For those of you who aren’t in SoCal, I thought I would update you on the goings on of my astronomy club, the Riverside Astronomical Society (RAS).
This month’s guest speaker was the world famous Dennis Mammana. Dennis is also a member of the RAS and a writer/speaker/teacher of astronomy and photography. Dennis is one of the 33 members of The World At Night (TWAN). If you haven’t visited the TWAN website, I highly recommend that you spend some time. The photography/photographers are spectacular.
Dennis is also going to be teaching a two day workshop on September 7-8, 2013 on how to take night sky photographs at the RAS’s dark sky site, GMARS. The cost for the workshop is $99 for RAS members and $119 for non-members. If you would like to learn to take images like those above that are from Dennis’s collection, come join us. Food and fun, plus a little learning.
Setting up for the meeting.
Diane brought our snacks for the break before Dennis’s talk.
Some of the TWAN members. I am sure you have seen their work on the internet (or people trying to copy their work).

And the winner is…
The anticipation is palpable on Mark’s face.
Yeah! Chocolate’s have been won!
