Its just a small movie…a really small movie.

Normally I talk about planetary or cosmic level things on this blog, but this new movie made by IBM Research was just too good to pass up.

The one-minute video shows individual carbon monoxide molecules repeatedly rearranged to show a boy dancing, throwing a ball and bouncing on a trampoline. Each frame measures 45 by 25 nanometers (for scale, you need 25 million nanometers to measure one inch).

The movie is very retro, like an 8-bit video game (which I love).

You can check out the complete movie here.

Next up, a little color and some game controllers and BAM, Super Mario Bros on a pin head.

Scanning tunneling microscope

I’m not sure if I could afford the scanning electron microscope needed to view the game, it sure would be fun to play.
