Startup Genome released their rankings for the cities with the best startup ecosystems. Coming in first was Silicon Valley, then Tel Aviv and then Los Angeles. The 160-page report on the world’s top startup ecosystems shows that the top 5 cities are still in the United States, but that other cities world-wide, like Tel Aviv and London, are catching up.
After two years of compiling data on more than 50,000 startups around the world and more than 50 in-depth, qualitative interviews conducted with entrepreneurs and investors. The team at Startup Genome crunched the data and released their report. T
The report compiled global rankings of startup ecosystems based on a 50-variable, 8-component index, which includes Startup Output, Funding, Company Performance, Talent, Support Infrastructure, Entrepreneurial Mindset, Trendsetting Tendencies and Ecosystem Differentiation.
No Asian startup ecosystems were listed in the top 50. The Startup Genome team said that this resulted from a lack of data on Asian regions to compare them properly. So, the report in its current form is still a work in progress. However, the project will continue to update the results.
