Veterans Day, and a Request for Help.

Today we celebrate Veterans day in the United States, so this will be the only post for today.

As a veteran, I feel a deep responsibility for my fellow veterans and our active duty forces.  I have been to war, and it is not fun.  The transition from military to civilian life can be harsh and many who served have not made the adjustment. Current statistics show that 25% of the homeless population in Los Angeles County are veterans.  That is unacceptable to me.

That is why I joined the Los Angeles County Bar’s (LACBA) Armed Services Committee. The members of the committee are trying to find solutions to the legal problems that plague many active duty members, veterans and their families.  These legal problems often cascade into other more serious problems preventing veterans from rejoining society.  Active duty members and their families can also face legal issues that are too expensive for them to handle.

To help raise funds, LACBA has provided us support to have a military ball to honor our heroes and to let them know that we have not forgotten.
