For those of you that don’t get to attend the general meetings of the Riverside Astronomical Society, I am posting some photos so you can get and idea of what fun we have.
It was a lovely harvest moon night a La Sierra University where we hold our meetings.
Al Fink our retiring outreach director, who is sadly moving to Arizona for his actual retirement.
Al receiving an appreciation telescope for 10 years of outreach activity. Al did over 60 outreach programs each year!
Al, Frank the President and our youngest member who delivered the telescope to Al.
Our new outreach director.
Alex at a loss for words, getting ready to present his substitute Chief Observers Report (our regular Chief Observer was called in to work).
Alex’s report on the newly discovered comet ISON, heading toward us in the next year.
Frank with Dianne (one of our dynamic duo of raffle ladies), showing off a very expensive Hotech laser collimator to be raffled off at our holiday party.
After the snack break, Lauren Pearce our guest speaker, regaling us with particle physics and dark matter. She is a very smart woman.
Sandy, the other half our our dynamic raffle duo, handing a lucky winner one of the cool watches that I donated for the raffles.
Smokey, our oldest member holding up his tickets in hopes that one of them is drawn! Sorry Smoke, no cheating.
